We are pleased to share that the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC) has announced action taken at the Spring 2019 Commission Meeting. The Commissioners have determined that Shanghai Qibao Dwight High School has met the conditions for initial accreditation valid for three years until June 30, 2022.
簡介
WASC的全稱為“西部學校與學院教育聯(lián)盟 (Western Association of Schools and Colleges ) ”，是美國教育部授權的為公立和私立學校、學院和大學進行認證的六大教育聯(lián)盟之一，也負責認證位于亞太地區(qū)的國際學校。
2018年，中國大陸范圍內，共有58所國際學校擁有WASC認證，上海地區(qū)只有10所，且半數(shù)只招收外籍學生。2019年開春，上海七寶德懷特高級中學很榮幸地成為了上海第11所獲得此項認證的學校。
意義
WASC成立于1962年，是美國教育部認可的非營利、非政府組織，它的認證宗旨是以教育為中心，且認證是有一定有效期限，學校需要不斷進行改進來獲得下一輪的認證。它的評鑒工作嚴謹公正，考查全面。具有它的認證證明學校的辦學方向與理念正確，教育教學，也向社會提供了學校的信譽，具有權威性與榮譽性。
WASC 的認證過程復雜，會考核：學校的理念，教學管理，學校領導的決策，教職人員是否勝任工作，學校環(huán)境健康安全，定期評估學生學習成果，學校改進方法，學校課程，經常評估教師教學過程和改進情況以及學生的學習結果。考核結果一般分為三種：通過，候補，未通過。感謝全體師生的配合與支持，我校第一次申請WASC就獲得了通過。
這不是結局，只是開始，我們將會不忘初心、砥礪前行，努力創(chuàng)建成為“以我為主、引領、公益導向”的高水平、國際化的中外合作高中。探索高中階段中外合作辦學的可行模式，開發(fā)中西融合的國際化課程體系，改變育人模式，為培養(yǎng)國際化創(chuàng)新型人才奠定基礎。
The accreditation status is based on the satisfactory completion of an onsite initial visit to our school extensively evaluating the commission's high expectations of performance and quality. WASC is a world-renowned accrediting body for K-12 schools, and only the most accomplished of schools are granted initial accreditation. This achievement serves as a validation of our school's efforts to provide quality education for our students and signifies our commitment to on-going school improvement.
